The voices are at it again....

I think I mentioned recently that I'd made a different character lead in order to sort out a few 'holes' that somehow came up...things looked to be coming together quite nicely until one of my characters reminded me I'd only solved "part of the problem" The other part was the ability (or lack thereof) to solve problems, so I decided to give my lead less 'ability' and more 'lack' and things are starting to get interesting again. The argument continues...

With my characters, that is. Seems they were less than satisfied over my lead, and refused to cooperate until I put a different person in that role. Turns out they were right (as usual) because the change in lead took care of most of the plot problems I've been struggling with while at the same time creating even more 'problems' my lead has to deal with. Voices... revisited...sort of

I mentioned in an earlier post that one of my characters hears voices in her head. Okay, I did after all create her, so I guess I can deal with that, but did I also mention she's doing her level best to take over the story? She is. Can't say that I blame her either. Much of what takes place in the story is the result of a series of events she set in motion, but for the most part she's behind the scenes, appearing occasionally to A: distract the reader and B: offer bits of timely if somewhat c… Continue

The voices in her head...

That's right. One of my characters hears voices in her head. Worse, they're usually arguing over what she should (or should not) do. As if she didn't have enough problems. At this point, the only thing I know for sure is that by the end of the novel the voices (along with a few other characters) will be little more than a memory, but I have the feeling things will get rather interesting along the way. Just an update

I mention on my profile that I've already written the ending of my novel, and am currently working on how best to get there from one of the numerous beginnings I've written. Perhaps I should clarify that a little. As it turns out, my story actually has two endings, if you can call them that. The first is when my lead reaches her goal, after which she decides the best option is get her life back to normal as quickly as possible regardless of the fact the 'bigger picture' as she sees it, still ha… Continue

A new member is forced to think

I know, unusual title for a blog post. Anyway, I'm new here, and recently started developing a few things using the template software. The development is not progressing as fast as hoped, but the thinking process, as in "What story am I really trying to tell" has grown by leaps and bounds, and made me see that my original story idea needed serious work. As it stands now, I am putting together several minimum length templates with only two VP characters and when that's done, the plan is to weav… Continue
