What's New

Evil Justice, the second book in my Hidden Manhattan mystery series (the first was Death is Disposable), has just been released in hardcover by Severn House. In Evil Justice, New York sanitation supervisor Anna Winthrop finds a member of her crew murdered in the garage—the apparent victim of a serial killer who is terrorizing the city.
“Classy Anna’s second cozy showcases Manhattan as it keeps you guessing.”—Kirkus Reviews

“Another adrenaline-producing adventure [with] a savvy heroine, an inventive plot, plenty of action, and a surprise ending.”—Booklist

“Marshall’s fast-paced, twisting tale is more than a fine mystery; it’s a fascinating glimpse into the nearly unknown underground of one of the country’s most famous cities. Marshall’s Manhattan is as integral a part of the tale as his sharp and savvy detective is.”—Romantic Times BOOKreviews

Thank you for your honest response, Mr. Marshall. Somehow I knew I had to come to that decision. Your answer pushed me over the edge and forced me to face reality. Peggy Harris

Good morning, Mr. Marshall -- I'm creating characters for my first novel in the women's literary genre. The main character is a 50-ish female Episcopal priest. (I wanted her to be clergy, but also have a glass of wine now and then.) Even though the book's main character is a priest, I'm aiming for a secular audience. Do you think I'm setting myself up for failure in the secular reading world with this decision? Thank you for the gift of your book and now this website. Peggy Harris

Dear Evan or Mr.Marshall,
Thank you so much for taking time to write this book. It has helped me in way's I didn't even expect. I passed it a couple times at the library thinking that this book wasn't what I was looking for. Well I was wrong. Oh so wrong. The first day I opened it I spent twelve hours filling in section sheets. I had already had an idea so and it was really neat to see it all come together in a timeline format. I have only complete roughly 13,000 words (3,000) short of finishing my beginning. I hope to finish the 3,000 shortly. Thank you again!
Best of Luck
Tay
Ps- I laughed out loud when I was reading your book and you said something like "Put in your favorite cd if you computer has a cd input" Ha Ha Ha

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that genre is thriving! I would have to say Meeting joshua is a christian romance....with some thriller twist, in some ways. It has lots of problems though. Like: I'm having trouble with my words. They seem to be repetative...and I think I've used my thesarus up! Ha! If you have any advice about that...preferably the word 'sigh'. I seem to get one word stuck in my mind and it ends up being used about a hundred time in one page. Let me know what you think I should do!

Getting ready for my panel next week at the New York Public Library, "Mysteries: Amateur Sleuths and Feline Detectives." If any of you plan on attending, let me know. I'd love to see you! My fellow mystery writer panelists are the fabulous Jane Cleland, Joani Ascher, Cynthia Blair, with Daryl Wood Gerber moderating.

I'm writing a flash story in honor of the event, a 500-word mini-mystery featuring Winky, the star of my previous series. Will give the story to attendees and later post it on a new… Continue
