The Marshall Planet

A Community of Writers Who Use The Marshall Plan®

I think I've mentioned before about a non-fiction book that I'm writing about motivating piano students to practice. Well, I've put that project on hold in favor of another project. Now, I'm writing an ebook about motivation and goal-setting.

Back Story
My wife and I, after years of working at various lines of employment, have decided we don't want to do it anymore. So we're quitting our jobs and we've given ourselves until the end of 2010 to do it. So between now and then, we're both hustling to establish other sources of income that wouldn't require us to "go" to work. In other words, we will have passive income or work-from-home gigs (or both). Writing factors into this for both me and my wife. We started a blog on January 18 for anyone who wants to follow our progress. It's called A Couple of Quitters

Getting Started
That brings me to my current writing project. My background has given me a certain level of insight on the subject of motivation. So I'm writing two ebooks; a free version and a version I will charge for. I've started working on the free version which will be based on a series of posts about Motivation that I'm running on my blog. This is where volunteers are needed.

Help Wanted

This is a great community here. I've enjoyed getting to know the wonderful people who come together for the love of writing and The Marshall Plan. You are people I trust which when it comes to writing. Presently, I'm looking for people who will give me feedback on my blog posts and then later on, feedback on both ebooks as they are developed. I want these ebooks to be the best they can be so getting feedback will be critical. Of course, anyone who helps me throughout the entire process, start to finish, will receive a free copy of both finished ebooks.

Your Assignments
If you are interested in helping me with this project I have a couple assignments for you to get started with. Below are links to posts I've written that will eventually form the foundation for material in both versions of my books.

1) Please click each link to go to each post, then rate and comment on each one. The comments will serve as phase-one feedback.

2) Email me [ gnarus@comcast.net ] so that I know that you are getting involved. Name the email "Motivation Project".

By the way, I'm using The Marshall Plan for Novel Writing on these books even though they're not fiction. The editing sections of The Marshall Plan... are so strong you can use the information on ANY writing project!

Just took a quick trip over to your blog and I am EXTREMELY IMPRESSED. Looks great! I'll be going back to really look things over. Great charicatures by the way. Good luck with your blog!---V

Vanessa,

Thanks so much! The site was months in the planning and orchestrating but it was only launched on January 18. So we're almost at the two months mark. And since neither I nor my wife are blog designers or caricature artists, we enlisted the talent of others to help us get the design we envisioned. But this is actually our temporary design. We're planning a total redesign and relaunch later this year where we'll spend several times more than what we spent on this site.

All said, however, we're quite pleased with how the site turned out. I'm glad you like it too. I hope you find the content meaningful. We're really hoping for more feedback so we can continue improving the site and content. So if you read anything you like or don't like, please leave a comment and/or rate it. Also, if you have any suggestions about what you would like us to write, there's a box to fill out in the sidebar. If you have any other suggestions, look for the suggestion tab on the right side of the screen.

Let me know if you're interested in helping me out on the project outlined above and I'll officially add you to the email list. The list is kept private and no one else will see who is involved. I use the email list to notify participants of assignments when they become available.

Cheers,
Scott
